10 Crafty Ideas to do with Butterfly Coloring Pages
Kids enjoy using strong, bright colors to color butterflies.
If you have a lot of finished butterfly coloring pages, these craft ideas will help you use them up.
1. Easy Fluttering Butterfly Craft
Kids will love this easy and fun craft!
First, color your butterfly and cut it out of the page. Take care to separate the body from the wings. Put some strong glue on the body and then attach it to a popsicle stick.
Next, using tissue paper or coffee filters, trace two enormous wing shapes; these should be approximately twice as big as the original wings. For some color, use markers, crayons, or watercolor to decorate them.
Put the old wings on top of the new cutouts with glue, fold them like an accordion fan, and then glue them to the body of the popsicle stick to make a colorful and fluttery butterfly!
2. Coming Out of the Egg
You can do this craft with your child at home or in the classroom.
Every kid should be given a roll of empty toilet paper. After that, you can make a fluffy “cocoon” by attaching colorful tissue paper with a thin layer of Krazy glue.
After coloring and cutting out the butterfly, you can attach a toothpick to the bottom of the shape and staple it to the end of the cardboard roll to make it look like the butterfly has just come out.
3. Butterfly Stick Puppet Craft
This craft is fun and can be used for puppet shows or telling stories.
To start, color and cut out your butterfly from one of the butterfly coloring pages. Don’t separate the wings from the body this time.
To give it some support, glue the butterfly to a strong piece of cardboard or cardstock. Cut it out again after it’s dry, and then tape or glue a straw or craft stick to the back.
To make it more interesting, give the butterfly googly eyes or a small smile. With that, your adorable little puppet butterfly is now prepared to soar through the air!
4. A Butterfly-Colored Toy
While this craft may look fancy, it’s actually very easy to make. After the child has finished coloring and cutting out a butterfly, a craft stick of a medium size should be glued to the butterfly’s body.
For the body, a row of small pom-poms in the child’s choice of color should be used. For the butterfly’s head, a pom-pom that is a bit bigger is best.
Lastly, for a fancy butterfly toy, you can add little wiggle eyes and pipe cleaner antennas.
5. Hanging Butterfly Mobile
This craft is very soft and makes a beautiful decoration for any room.
To begin, color and cut out a few butterflies from the pages. When you are finished, you should glue each butterfly to a piece of cardstock to make them more sturdy, and then you should cut them out once more.
Using a needle and thread, make a small hole in the top of each butterfly and string or yarn through it.
To make a mobile, tie the strings at different lengths around a wooden embroidery hoop or two crossed sticks. You can hang it from the ceiling or near a window and watch the butterflies sway in the wind.
6. Butterfly Circle
You can work on this fun craft in groups of six or seven students.
Ensure that each child colors a butterfly and attaches it to a thick piece of cardboard, leaving a small amount of extra cardboard at the end of the body.
Give each group a big embroidery ring or a ring that you made yourself out of pipe cleaners.
You can have the children wrap the cutout around the ring by using the extra paper that is located at the end of each butterfly. The end result will be a circle of bright butterflies that you can put anywhere.
7. Butterfly Garden Scene Craft
With this fun craft, kids can make a home for butterflies using their favorite butterfly coloring pages!
First, color and cut out a few butterflies from your pages. Then, get a big piece of cardboard or construction paper to use as the background.
Draw or make things like flowers, grass, trees, and clouds to make a garden scene on more craft paper, markers, or crayons.
At last, apply glue to the butterflies on the scene, placing some in the air and others on flowers, to bring your handmade butterfly garden to life.
8. Create a Bold Headband
A strip of cardboard or poster paper and four to five butterfly cutouts are all that is required to complete this distinctive and captivating craft.
As many as five butterflies should be colored in the same pattern, or they should be colored in different colors. In that case, it’s just a matter of taste.
A strip of cardboard should be rolled up into a circle and stapled in place.
Once the butterflies are cut out of the pages, they can be glued around the band to make a fancy, colorful, one-of-a-kind headband.
9. Butterfly Window Clings
A fun way to make any window look better is with these bright window stickers.
First, color your butterfly and cut it out carefully. Then, put the butterfly on top of a piece of clear contact paper with the sticky side facing up.
Put another piece of contact paper on top of it (sticky side down) to keep it in. Press down hard to get rid of the air bubbles, then cut around the butterfly, leaving a little space around the edge.
You no longer need glue to stick your butterfly to any clean window or glass. Just press the button, and enjoy the sun shining through your colorful work.
10. Making Simple Butterflies
Little kids will love making this simple craft using their favorite butterfly coloring pages.
First, the wings of the finished butterflies should be cut out separately from the body, and then the body should be glued to a popsicle stick using Krazy glue.
Next, you need to cut four triangles out of colored construction paper that are about twice as big as the wings.
For a cute craft, glue the wings from the coloring page to the construction paper cutouts, then fold them in half like an accordion and attach them to the butterfly’s body.
